Punk It Up Queenie: Crafternoon

Friday 3rd June we held a punk-inspired Jubilee afternoon of arts and crafts, at Arthouse on Princes Avenue. As part of the WE ARE SIMULACRA: [Fragments of Culture] Exhibition. A family-friendly crafternoon of creative anarchy inspired by the infamous Jamie Reid artwork and cover of the Sex Pistols song God Save the Queen from 1977.

With paper, scissors, glue, paint, marker pens, some old magazines of the Queen and a punk attitude, participants got to make their own punk posters and commemorative plates. They also joined us in creating a collaborative work of art on the day. Which is to have a permanent home at Arthouse, as a celebration of our first crafternoon at Hull’s unique bar and gallery space.
