Your brain doesn’t know you exist, think about that for a moment… Was a thought that came to mind during a psychotropic journey I was on. From that came the idea of our brains being dissociative entities, unaware of the humanity of being within them, negotiating their way through a confusing alien landscape of human culture.
During April/May 2022 I had the first solo exhibition of my Brain In A Bell Jar work, at Off The Road bar on Princes Avenue in Hull. The Reality Under Deconstruction exhibition explores the inner working of our minds, represented as a featureless brain in a bell jar, disassociated, dissonant, devoid of emotion, protected/trapped by an invisible dome it is unaware of being inside.
